I was watching this youtube clip
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8amNvWnGrew

In Video --> Library -> Movies

He's able to see a picture for each movie and the description and all the mode etc..

May i ask how he set it up? I plan to get XBMC running on a PC when the stable version comes out..i have a hard drive full of movies in one folder..is it possible to do this?

This would create AN AWESOME viewing experience...especially if you can control it using the windows remote controller..

It should work just fine now.

There is a Windows installer on Sourceforge.

http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles..._id=585323

Try out one of the setup files and see how it works.

For god sake how about a little direction. I know your trying to help but read the wiki isn't exactly helping when the guy probably already has read the wiki.

Quote:There are a number of ways to get thumbnails to display in Videos.
One is described in the IMDB (Internet Movie Database) section.
If you want a custom thumbnail, or just don't want to use the IMDB feature, you can add a .tbn file to your movie directory. The .tbn file can be either a .JPG or a .PNG file (with transparency) and you simply have to rename the extension from .jpg/.png to .tbn.
The size of the picture can be anything from 64x64 to 256x256 in pixel-size (you may want to use a larger pixel-size if you use XBMC in 720p/1080i HDTV resolution to get a sharper image).

All i am asking is whether that IMDB program can search an entire folder full of movies and start dumping/copying the moviename.png or moviename.jpg and i wonder which file the description go to. Is there any other programs that can do this BUT better quality images?

Umm, aren't you the guy that asked the question? Then you would know whether YOU have read the wiki. Anyway, all the answers are in the wiki. It took me 1 minute to find the info, although admittedly I probabaly know more about how to navigate the wiki than you do Anyway:

You have a 'Source' set for videos. This can be any number of paths from the xbox hard drive (or pc), windows shares etc. Set Content (Movies, TV Shows). Then click scan. All done.

a) you would be surprised just how many times people ask questions in here without having even looked at the wiki
b) i will gladly answer specific questions. your original post makes it sound like you went to youtube, then ran over here, without doing any research at all. hence my short answer. if you are lazy why shouldn't i be just as?

the answer to your question is yes, it can scan many movies, no it does not save them alongside the vids (but rather in the thumbnail cache), info is saved in the database (userdata/database/myvideos34.db) and there is surely a ton of apps out there, but i wouldnt know what they are called - ask google

My bad guys.

Yeah that make sense with the database info being stored elsewhere (is that on the xbox or on your network hard drive)?

Currently the database can only be accessed from the same machine as xbmc.

That was kind of the impression I got too.

Check out those wiki links that Sho posted and give the scraper a go.

It works pretty well.
