Problem with shoutcast in latest build
#1
Hi updated to the latest svn all is fine appart from shoutcast.
When launched shoutcast causes XBMC to exit and freezes Ubuntu ( Hardy ).
My old build worked fine.
Unable to supply any logs as none seem to have been created.
Is anyone else having this problem ?
Thanks in advance.
Also many thanks to all devs for all your hard work....

I'm starting to think we need a "How to post a problem in a manor that may actually get it fixed thread."

Debug Log? Backtrace? (see tips and tricks thread, use http://www.pastebin.ca )

If it is the same problem I had, I have fixed it and sent a patch to jmarshall, and hopefully it will be applied soon. (The problem is actually in parsing the .pls files.)

Hi, I having the same problems, but have had no luck fixing it. Is there any fix or is it still in the works. I'm using hardy ppa version for xbmc. Everything works smooth but when I start shoutcast xbmc closes. Any help will be great.

Thanks

vtech72 did you not even READ what was posted above? ^^^^No

Which PPA? Don't say latest as amazingly enough these things update over time. Did you examine the log? Did you do anything? I run into issues too from time to time but really it's not THAT hard to TRY and give the devs information they need to at least have a clue where to look.

By the way I don't like the tone your writting to me. Yes it's the lastest if that helps you to get a rush. Hardy has'nt had a update for awhile. I won't even be asking if I hav'nt tried to fix it.

I read everything above but it does'nt work.

Where do you get this false sense of entitlement for support when you are unwilling to provide us with ANYTHING helpful to try and fix it? BLKMGK may have a little harsh (I personally like the sarcasm when dealing with people like this), but he is 100% correct. You can't expect us to do a damn thing if you aren't willing to give us the information we require. You were asked for which version you were running. "Latest" is useless to us, this was stated, yet you said it anyway. We need the svn revision number (r##### can be found in the package name or at the bottom of system info while running XBMC). Just because you're having a SIMILAR problem doesn't mean you're having the SAME problem. The more debuglogs we get the better, replicate the problem and put your log (/var/log/$USER-xbmc.log) on http://www.pastebin.ca (or similar). It's also nice to have clear, concise directions on how to reproduce the problem consistently.

I'd not have been sarcastic had this not been an old thread that even stated frustration at the lack of details provided for troubleshooting and provided suggestions for being more helpful! <sigh>
