Recommend a kodi box

I am looking for a cheap kodi box which supports pass through of 4K HDR, atmos and HD audio bluray rips. Reading through the forums, If I buy an Amlogic s912 box and stick libreelec on it, it should work. I found tannic tx92 which fits the specs for £40. Can someone let me know if this box is for my use or suggest a better alternative?

Is there an Amlogic s912 box with usb 3.0? Haven't come across one in my searches.

Want to add that I already have a fire tv stick 4k and this doesn't passthrough HD audio. That's why looking for alternatives.

Yes a Tanix TX92 will work fine if you run CoreELEC Kodi Leia on it from a Class 10 U1 microSDHC card:

https://coreelec.org/

You will not get USB3.0 on dirt cheap boxes that can also run a stable CoreELEC OS.

The Odroid N2 has USB3 and is one of the recommended 4K HDR & HD audio CoreELEC devices. However it’s not dirt cheap.

Be aware most Infra Red remotes on cheap Android devices are complete rubbish.
It’s why users use something like a wireless MINUX A2 lite or similar model that have their own USB dongle wireless receiver.

Thanks very much for your reply. Found the following box on amazon warehouse deals like new for £37 and ended up buying it. Specs wise it looks same as the Tannix. Would this work for me?

Also I have a harmony remote, so not bothered much about the remote that comes with the device.

It seems the CoreELEC Kodi guys are adding support for the cheaper, faster next generation of AMLogic S905X2 chipsets like the $43, 2GB, GigaE LAN, USB 3.0 equipped X96 Max:

https://discourse.coreelec.org/t/support...1d/6016/64

It would not surprise me at all if these cheap S905X2 devices also output correct Max CLL/FALL Infoframe Metadata for full 4K HDR support. After all they are using the same AML v4.9+ Linux Kernel as the S922X.

Thanks very much for your response. These are indeed much cheaper than the s912 boxes. I found something on amazon with 4gb Ram, usb 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet for just £30. I think I will pick this up and wait for coreelec guys to add support.

I ordered one of the boxes with S905x2 chipset. Do you know if the kodi on android provides the truehd atmos, dts x passthrough in the meanwhile?

If the AMLogic Android device is running Android v8.1 Oreo or above there will be no Kodi HD audio support. All AML Android devices are the same.
It why guys use CoreELEC Kodi Leia.

Below is the device I have ended up buying. Will post on the CoreELEC forum to know more on how to setup coreelec with nightly builds.

@wrxtasy Thanks for recommending to get S905X2 box. I got this and put a nightly build of coreelec and works great. 4K videos doesn't play yet, but this is a known issue being worked on. Few other glitches but looks like these are common with the chinese boxes.
