Only XBMC for Xbox supports loading binary DLL (like Real and QuickTime) so far.
XBMC for Linux/Mac/Windows only supports the built-in decoders in FFmpeg. Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting. Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules. For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first. |

It's not a supported format on any of the ports It has nothing to do with your setup. The Xbox version playes them with Mplayer which is not being ported and not planed to be.
Unless support for theses kind of closed source codecs is build into "Dvd Player" XBMC's in house media player, XBMC will never be able to play them. |

XBMC for Linux/Mac/Windows will also be able to to play them when and if FFmpeg support those codecs.

It is an open source project that already runs on Windows/Linux/OS X. What is the issue? I screwed up the quote above, maybe an admin can kill that post? |

MPlayer is not designed for it and would thus require more work then the end result is worth, ...it would be less work to add the binary DLL loader to DVDPlayer. Better yet, everyone should stop using closed source proprietary audio/video formats like RealAudio/RealVideo. Supporting them only encurages the continued use of them, ...I am sure that if MPlayer did not support loading binary DLL codecs then those would have all been revered engineered by now and implemented into FFmpeg, (necessity being the mother of all inventions and all, MPlayer supporting DLL codec loading removes the need to reverse engineer them).
