Hi all I hope you can help me....Im having stuttering problems playing SD content. I have checked that decoding with H264 dont have any stuttutering but with MPEG2

Therefore could you please let me know if theres anyway to force KOdi to decode SD with H264 instead of MPEG2?

Many thanks in advance!!!

Please search for decoderfilter in this forum.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

If this is really the question and you did not have any words wrong. The answer is: It completely makes no sense. The entire question makes no sense.

You cannot decode MPEG2 SD content with h264 decoder ...
You can also not push a nail into the wall with a screw driver

Many thanks fritsch, but what I say is possible....theres a PVR addon for Movistar (Spanish Cable TV) where all the channels SD HD and UHD are identified by Kodi as 1080p....no matter the resolution they are indetified as 1080p. For Vh1 wich is SD thKOdi decodifies it as HD with H264, and no stutter. If I use TVH Kodi identifies it as SD and decodifies it with mpeg2 and it stutters. When I do a question is because I have done some research and with some sense...I always try this here and in my life.
Hope this helps to understand my question and I hope kodi will be able to do it chaging some lines in decoder file.
Many thanks

If you have problems playing MPEG2 content then you can try transcoding it into H264
https://handbrake.fr/ will do this

Well which is it ??  H.264 and MPEG2 are different encodings so the stream can only possibly be encoded in one of them.  What does VLC have to say about the stream details ??

Hi... Vh1 is SD, but Kodi identfies as HD for some reason using this PVR addon and it decodifies with H264 without problems

many thx!

But thats IPTV streaming, not PVR broadcast (https://kodi.wiki/view/PVR) as you implied.  MPEG2 is a very old codec and not used much outside of DVD's and SD broadcast material

Anything streamed over the internet (and most broadcast HD content) is going to be H264/H265 as its more efficient

I think you need to provide a lot more information on what you're using to do what

Hi, please let me know what info do you need to find out if its possible to force to decode SD with H264.
I think this addons are within PVR. Kodi decodifies with MPEG2 SD in TVheadend client. At least with my U9H
I use Tvheadend for SAT channels and TDT Channels and this addon for Movistar https://sourceforge.net/p/movistartv/wiki/
Many thanks

It sounds like your Kodi box doesn't work correctly with MPEG2, you have a few options:
1) Update your device/firmware to correctly support MPEG2 decoding
2) Try disabling hardware acceleration in Kodi
3) Try seeing if you PVR software can transcode the stream for you (https://tvheadend.readthedocs.io/en/stab...amprofile/)

It isn't possible to 'decode SD with H264' unless the software making the stream can transcode it.  Its a nonsense request.

Hi I still dont know why yoy sat its a nonsense request. PLease see pic below.
Anyway I have made hard testing with transcoding and other staff without success. It seems its a cache problem...when goes below 10% it starts to stutter,,,weird. I will open thread in TVH to ask if its possible to change cache in PVR addon
Many thanks
