Kodi 18.2 crashing when browsing video folders
#1
Hi all,

As per subject, recently (possibly after Kodi update), On a Windows 10 PC, I'm getting frequent intermittent crashes while browsing my video folders. All my media is stored on a NAS and my database is shared with other Kodi devices (running librelec) using a mysql database also on the NAS. The issue only seems to occur on the Windows PC. To test the installation I wiped the PC, reinstalled Windows and Kodi, and used a fresh install with the only files re-used being the advancedsettings.xml and sources.xml.

I've uploaded my Kodi log to pastebin HERE and would appreciate any help with it.

Thanks.

I would say this is your problem...

xml:
Host CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4500U CPU @ 1.80GHz, 4 cores available
NOTICE: Desktop Resolution: 3840x2160 32Bit at 29Hz

4th Gen Intel does not have the grunt to upscale all your content to 4k resolution. I have the i5-4440 and there is no chance that I can run it at 3840x2160.

Also 29Hz is a bit slow, and will make your GUI navigation look jerky.

Go back to using 1920x1080@50 or 60Hz and let us know if that solves the problem.

Thanks for the response and suggestion,Unfortunately I had actually tried that and the problem is still there. In fact I tried it on a completely different machine that only ran 1920x1080 and still the same issue.

Also just to point out, this crash occurs while in the menu browsing folders before I've made any attempt to play a video. Thanks.

Corrupt library is the likely suspect, if the folder is extremely large it's possible to run out of cache memory, but I doubt this is the issue. Ensure your library has been exported to separate files, delete the entire installation, and re-install Vanilla Kodi, define your sources and scrapers, a rescan from local shouldn't take too long.
