NDK method does not offer the aspect-ratio changing and won't for a very long time. Wondering for the Shield: This is what most users test and they did not run into any regression with that change - but yeah - it currently seems that we break either or :-)

It's time that someone from the community steps up and helps (programmatically) to fix such issues in the code without revert back and forth. We are currently 2 Android maintainers (audio + the entire rest) on paper. While I won't have zero time until end of year for audio, because of demanding every-day job and family, which sometimes heavily complains :-)

i hope you'll find the solution to this bug!!! there are a lot of Nvidia Shield users that will apreciate the fix!!! hope to hear good news from you soon!!! thank you!!!

maybe related to our problem mr. fritsch?
Frame skipping on AndroidTV
354661 (thread)
i talked also with some of my friends that have Nvidia Shield explain to them what to look
so to find if they have same problems in playback like our bug and they told me now they realise
that playback is not smooth and they see stuttering. the stuttering is worst in 720p video files and
more less in 1080p and 4k thats why its less noticeable. and of course if you are someone that you
want quality you find the problems more easy than others. hope you'll find soon a solution for this bug.
thank you!!!

thanks Schrotty, i only wrote it asking for news as i see also others starting have problems like us.
i'm using this build kodi-20200404-6de683c2-master-arm64-v8a.apk as you suggested because i want v.19
for the extra colour (dark grey) in subtitles that helps a lot in HDR movies. also i saw mr. fritsch made a pull request
on Github asking to revert the change that broke smooth playback on Nvidia Shields. lets hope we'll see it fixed soon also for v.19 Matrix.

Hi,

we are basically a bit astonish, as many members on the team run an nvidia shield, some run a firetv4k and no one realized the issues. Therefore: Could someone of you guys please install 18.7 stable or nightly master and reproduce the issue while enabling debug logging before doing so?

It's not difficult to post a log.

I went through the log - sadly there is nothing obviously wrong in there :-). For v19, it's not a debug log therefore I could not see anything.

Therefore:
- Please enable debuglogging
- Additionally enable component logging for video player component
- Start your video file, when your issue happens press "ok" button (some seconds afterwards, please)
- Describe the issues you see in words and please upload this logfile

Thanks in advance.
