In the UK you can definately recive goods from the US without paying tax on them... marking as a gift and not looking like a parcel from an outlet.... not sure on NZ... I sent parcels from Aussie to the UK when I lived there surface mail (boat)... took 3 weeks but was cheap.... only problem was everything that was fragile ended up in bits! so packing needs looking at carefully...
