I just thought if I created myself a profile, Xbmc would create custome keymap and irrsmap files that I could replace.

Ok, I'll have a look at the log when I get home from work today.

Thanks,

I used the debug client and it reconizes that I'm pushing the play button, back button, next chapter ect... It says "Received message: "remoteevent. Notify" Abstract (down). There are no codes in IR sever though. Should it display a code like 31730 for start?

It's like IR Server isn't communicating with Xbmc. IR server seems to be working fine (To the extent of my knowledge anyway).

EDIT:

Well, IR does open Xbmc so it is communicating somewhat. Does any more configuration need to be done to IR Server Suite? The only thing I have done to IR Server was bind the start button to Xbmc.exe. That's it. Is that all the needs to be done?

So, this is what I've done:

1. Install Xbmc
2. Install IR Server Suite
3. Bind the start button to Xbmc.exe
4. Create a profile for myself in Xbmc (Not needed it sounds like)
5. Put your IRSSmap.xml and kaymap.xml into C:\Users\media center\AppData\Roaming\XBMC\userdata

Should this be enough?

Thank you for helping me, again. I'm sure you have better things to do. We can quit at any time.

Tony

You have to use the input service configuration, select the mce remote (check off the box in both columns). That tells IRSS you're using the mce remote.

For the debug client, you have to click "connect", then press each button you need the code for. It should give you the message you stated, but right above that should be the key code
For example, I opened it up, pressed my play button and received the following message:
Microsoft MCE (31721)
Received Message "RemoteEvent.Notify"

Hmmm, The MCE remote was already checked in both boxes after installation.

In the debug client, I did connect to local host. No codes at all. The only thing I see is what I typed above.

I'll uncheck and recheck the MCE remote again in IR Server and see what happens.

The debug clients says MCE but I see no codes. I can open Xbmc with my remote and hit up down left right clear and they all register in the debug client but no codes.

What does this mean: "start xbmc with MCE remote support.cmd" I saw this in another thread but it was a thread about setting up IR and Xbmc in WIndows XP SP3. Do I still need to somehow start Xbmc with MCE remote support?

What remote are you using? Post a link to a pic.

And I wouldn't follow that thread too closely, it's almost a year old already

Here is my remote: http://mathias.nyman.me/images/2008/08/mceremote.gif

But there is no change, in a good way or bad, when I copy your files to Xbmc. You would think if the files where for the wrong controller, the buttons wouldn't work at all or they would change function in some way but they don't. It's like Xbmc doesn't even see those files.

I am having the same trouble as thearm. In the Debug Client when I press a key it shows:
Received Message: "RemoteEvent, Notify"
Abstract(VolumeUp)

With whatever command I press showing up in the parenthesis. It does not show a code, so I do not know what to put in IRSSmap.

The closest picture I found to my remote is: Link

Ok, I found my problem. In Input Services Configuration I had to click on Advanced then uncheck "Use the Abstract Remote Model".

Now a new problem has come up, when I use the arrow keys in xbmc, it moves two menu items in one click.
