Hi all,
I was reviewing my favourite show, st tng, which obviously being old is still in DX3 format. In one of the episode, xbmc crashed in several points into the file, while mplayer had absolutely no problems playing the same file, without even a warning. Details:

Ubuntu 8.04 on x86 i686
Using PPA build based on SVN14725

I'm not too sure about the backtrace, since it seems to contain strange characters.
I'm not expecting a problem in xbmc, just a pointer on what to look for in my file.

Possible to make a sample containing the crash small enough to upload somewhere? Might help the devs...

I suppose I could try. However, I need something capable of cutting it without modifying it. Suggestions?

Update: I tried both with avidemux and avisplit, and everytime the chunk containing the glitch works perfectly. Only the original file crashes xbmc. What can I do?

Try using split if it's close to the start of the file.

Ok, I managed to make a 4.7Mb chunk with the problem. I was just cutting too much. It seems the problem is not where I see it, but maybe it's a bit forward in the file and xbmc crashes while caching it. In any case, what's the preferred method of sharing this kind of file?

Your own webspace if you have it, alternatively something like megaupload et. al.

This is both to add info and keep "alive" this thread: I've ancountered another file with the same behaviour, always in the same "package". Now I'm sure it's something about the sound. I've reencoded the source (ac3 stereo at 192 Kb/sec) into a vorbis stream and it works ok.
