Bug
Ok, pretty sure this one is a bug. When playing a 3840x2160 video on a 3840x2160 display, Kodi switches to 4096x2160. Snip from debug log:

Code:
2021-01-07 22:56:04.643 T:4948 INFO <general>: [WHITELIST] Searching the whitelist for: width: 3840, height: 2160, fps: 24.000, 3D: false
2021-01-07 22:56:04.643 T:4948 DEBUG <general>: [WHITELIST] Searching for an exact resolution with an exact refresh rate
2021-01-07 22:56:04.643 T:4948 DEBUG <general>: [WHITELIST] Matched an exact resolution with an exact refresh rate Generic PnP Monitor #1: 4096x2160 @ 24.00Hz (328)
2021-01-07 22:56:04.643 T:4948 INFO <general>: Display resolution ADJUST : Generic PnP Monitor #1: 4096x2160 @ 24.00Hz (328) (weight: 0.000)

The correct resolution and refresh rate is whitelisted, and Kodi switches correctly if 4096x2160 is removed from the whitelist.

Might have something to do with the 'legacy overscan' setting within the TV, ensure you have 'just scan' turned on in aspect, prior to Kodi launch & handshaking. Keeping Desktop Resolution: 3840x2160 32Bit at 60Hz using display switch chose the TV, is the aspect pixel to pixel or have you lose some of the image? Launch Kodi does it fix snug, or have you lost some image?

The TV is already in "just scan". There is now much more detail on Github, where I'm being told this is the intended behavior: https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/issues/19037
