This is a memory issue, sometimes i have to launch twice I have the tube shield and getting enough memory for this to work reliably is a constant battle.

Ah ok, that might explain it then.  Does force quitting other apps make a difference at all?  Also, aside from a USB stick plugged in the back, I haven't added any additional storage, is that going to make a difference if I'm trying to open a BD50 disc?
I have the tube, which has 1gb less memory and have to force quit constantly. Also sometimes on the long loads, i just hit O twice to go to the task manager and then select kodi and launch for the menu again and it works. I believe all of these workarounds to be resource related.

thank you for the clarification.  Unfortunately the methods you've described haven't made a difference on my side.

If you can still RMA it/send it back, do so. The smaller memory size of the Tube is not working well for Kodi.

Dear fandangos

Thank you so much for this contribution!

You really made my day after years of waiting for java bluray menu support on my nvidia shield it finally works

Hopefully this will get integrated in future kodi releases, or hopefully some of the main devs will pick this up to add.

You owe me one

Kind Regards

Daf

Would you consider integrating the patch mentioned here or one like it?
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...t=bdj+menu
I have to disable hardware acceleration every time i play a dvd from the shield to get the menu, and then enable it for everything else.

Hi, thanks for your great working but I have a trouble:
I'm using Shield TV 2019 (stick, not Pro ver) but can't intsall the 64 bits (AARCH64) build: https://github.com/fandangos/Kodi-HDR-Ed...arch64.apk, it always shows “uninstalled” finally. So I have to install the 32 bits build, it works. However, I add 32 or 64 bits (ARM) addon to this Kodi, in fact there's nothing changed with original Kodi when I play a BD ISO or BDMV folders, the Bluray menu is still a Popup menu only, not full BD-J menu.

Hi all, I'm a "standard kodi user" but I never installed addons like this. How can I do that? I'm running Kodi over a Khadas VIM3L board with 19.2-Matrix and I can play most of the movies but if I use a 1:1 BlueRay copy (made by anydvd hd) I cannot see any menu. Please help me installing this add-on! Thanks

Hello! Very exciting, but nobody mentions the source of the disc. Does this support an external BD player connected to the Shield via USB?

Kodi Matrix 19 (aarch64) build that supports Bluray and 4K UHD Bluray menu playback
Final Kodi Matrix release with support for Dolby Vision matroska and Bluray/4K UHD Bluray support.

This requires the use of Java to display BDJ menus, so you will need to install the Java Runtime Enviroment for Android addon and leave it on.

This requires changes in Kodi main build.
https://github.com/fandangos/Kodi-HDR-Ed...id-support

This requires changes in libbluray, source here:
https://github.com/Fandangos/libbluray/

This version has the Dolby Vision supported added here:
https://github.com/fandangos/Kodi-HDR-Ed...pdated-dv2
and discussed in this thread here:
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=360018

This also has my changes to fix chapter skipping and timebar seeking.
Source here:
https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/pull/19102
discussed and tested here (windows):
https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=359995

Java runtime enviroment source code is here:

Q&A
Q: The shield has only a few buttons how do you control the menu and the kodi OSD?
A: If you press the main button on the remote and nothing happens, it means you are controlling the disk.
If you want to skip, hold the play/pause button for a few seconds and the main information page will show up.
Press the main button and you will be able to skip chapters, seek the timebar, open the popup menu.

Q: How do I open the popup menu?
A: Press play/pause and hold, see the information OSD, press the main button, press the little house icon.

Q: This way of controlling is terrible, I don't like it.
A: You can try changing the inputs assigned or you can try using a bluetooth remote control, or a usb one with a receiver.

Q: Will this be merged into main Kodi?
A: I have absolute no idea.

Q: my disk X doesn't work
A: yes, this isn't perfect.

Q: Does Dolby Vision works when playing full discs?
A: No dolby vision is only supported in matroska (mkv) and mp4 containers. If FFMpeg addes support for m2ts it might work.
Know problems
1. The menu, on 4k discs with HDR/Dolby Vision (when HDR is enabled in the display), is rendered in SDR and the colors will look dessaturated.
I tried to solve this but I have no idea how to.
If you want to see colors as they should, disable mediacodec surface and media codec hardware acceleration but on 4k discs the menu will run really slow.
We need hardware acceleration for the menus in 4k.

2. The playback keeps reseting and the screen flashes when using match frame rate settings.
Yes, the video is playing the background, when the video ends, it will start again and the display will flash.
Is this or a sluggish slow menu.

3. I have heard the kodi has some problems with seamless branching and subtitles(?)

Thanks a lot to Petri Hintukainen (the creator of libbluray), he helped from the start to make this a reality, compiled the java image you are seeing here, helped solve most of the problems.
Thanks to Shaya Potter that helped during the development.
Thanks to the devs over at PojavLauncherTeam (https://github.com/PojavLauncherTeam).

Hope this works for you.
Fandangos thank you for your great work . I had looked for this feture for a long time.
I try your apk and add-on on my SONY TV 75X9500G, which is android tv 9. And MiBox android tv 8. Almost everything works great, but the HD Audio passthrough not working.
for SONY Android TV 9, they can not passthrough the HD Audio for the 3rd-party app like kodi. its' OK. I know that. it never work on Android TV 9.
For Mibox Android TV 8,  it should passthrough the Truehd and DTS-HD. I haven't seen Truehd setting in your apk. And both DTS-HD and Truehd passthrough worked when I using kodi 19.3 on Mibox after I update the Kodi from kodi 18.
I heard kodi 19 is not support HD Audio passthrough, but after I update kodi from 18 to 19,  Maybe it inherits or continues some drivers from kodi 18, so kodi 19.3 still can passthrough the HD Audio on Mibox android TV 8?
Would you help to look at this? I notice some shitty build can support HD Audio passthrough on Amologic,if it is possibale, can you integrate these drivers or code into your build? BTW, both sony tv and Mibox is 32bit.
Look forward to your reply, good day!
Thanks

Can I use this to connect an external Bluray player to nvidia shield?

@EnixSpike Quoting the entire opening post of a forum thread is a bit over the top. So, kindly use a less lazy approach for any future posts. Use the @ char if you want to 'ping' someone, or select a text portion with your mouse and click on the appearing Reply bar below that post. Thanks in advance.

My bad.
I'd like to modify my post, but I can't find the edit button of my post.

Will this work on the official release of Kodi? Can I just install the java addon and the rest will work out of the box? Or will I need to install the modified Kodi apk?
