I’ve been doing some research, and am feeling uncertain of the results I’ve found, so I thought I’d just ask my specific question here. I want to stream my Kodi music playback to a portable Wi-Fi speaker (bluetooth is too short-range; I want to be able to have the speaker outside in the backyard. Although bluetooth support is welcome for Spotify, I prefer my Kodi playlists and personal library above all else). Can anyone recommend hardware/setup that would do this?
I envision being able to make a portable Wi-Fi speaker the primary Kodi sound device (or even primary Windows sound device), such that all Kodi audio goes through it instead of my home theater speakers when needed. But I’m reading that UPnP and DLNA can be a bit tricky (e.g. proprietary headaches that can come with, say, Sonos). Am I overthinking this, or? I’m trying to avoid having to repeatedly buy/return speakers, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
