Hi guys, happy holidays
I installed kodi 18.5 from repostory on MX linux (debian 10 buster)
Some contents require the adaptive imputstream library, which in mine
kodi is missing.
What to do to install the component safely?

You will need to ask the people of MX Linux (and/or Debian Buster) to provide a proper release of the inputstream-adaptive add-on.
Team Kodi does not do releases for MX Linux, we only have our Ubuntu PPA for Linux releases.

It would probably be a good idea to also updat Kodi to v18.9 if you don't want to go to v19 just yet.

Sounds like their are crap at keeping packages up to date then, I'd use a different distro.

That depends on which OS/distro you are going to use.
What are the tech specs of your Kodi device anyway?

OK, solved.
I installed from the mx package install, the kodi version 19
from stable repo.
And again from the stable repo I installed inpustream.
