#1

I'm using the atlantis alpha4 (PPA) on Ubuntu 8.04/i686 on a gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H. how do I get xbmc to output sound through hdmi?

It works flawlessly in ubuntu itself (like in rhythmbox) but what device-name do i have to enter? I don't hear anything on default settings.

Settings --> Music --> Player --> Configure Audio Hardware --> Audio Output Device

Enter "iec985", without the quotation marks Nod

if ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) supports it then so will XBMC, see: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page

Create a file named .asoundrc with a text editor, type in this text:

pcm.!default {
type hw
card 1
device 3
}

Place the .asoundrc in your home folder.

Everything was working fine until now there is no sound on some music files.
Funny thing is that when I play Flac files and MP3 files some work and some not.
I have managed to get sound on movies by going to :
/Settings/System/AudoOutPut/ nand set following
Audio Output HDMI
AUdio Output Device HDA ATI SB IEC958 and Passthrough Output Device same.
When I play music I get warning :
Failde to Initialize Device Check your Audiosettings
But when I select it again then it plays..
I think that Audio Output sould be set to Optical / Coax
If I set Audio Output to Optical / Coax then there is no sound on movies that are Mkv. files but ok on AVi files

Any comments would be appreciated
