Yes, Mezzmo supports movie sets.  See Managing your library on the Wiki.  What I am not 100% sure of is how Mezzmo scrapes the information out of the NFO files.  I know what fields it is in Mezzmo and how they map to Kodi.  If it isn't reading out ot the NFO files properly then you can contact the Mezzmo folks and they can help.  You can see the movie set information in the video properties series field.

I dug a little deeper and while the movie sets are automatic in GUI mode they are not right now in native mode.  I can add an option to automatically populate the movie set information in Kodi from Mezzmo's equivalent field.  It would be similar to how I recently added copying Mezzmo Keywords to Kodi tags.  There is still so much more functionality with the Mezzmo addon in GUI mode but I understand folks like the native Kodi skin mode.    A cool way to address this could be to write an active playlist in Mezzmo for all movie sets (with whatever filters you want) and then link the Mezzmo active playlist to Kodi as a favourite.  Then you could launch the active playlist, get a listing of all movie sets and then when you click on a set see all the movies in the set (and even add multiple layers of hierarchy lif you have lots of sets like group by first letter etc..)e.  That might be more user friendly than clicking on the info panel for individual movies or other native mode access methods.  Of course if I add syncing the set info to Kodi you could do both Blush

Let me know if you are interested in me adding populating the Kodi set information out of Mezzmo.  It will likely take a few days.

Yes, that would be great. Thank you! Kodi has a movie sets category and when displaying the movie library can also show show the movie sets in place of individual titles.

I believe the movie sets category shows up when you have more than one movie in a set.  Let me get the set information populating for native mode and then we an look at it closer.  Which skin are you using ?  Movie sets aside, how is everything else going ?

I've been able to complete the coding for movie sets for both Kodi 18 and 19 versions of the addon.  I'll need a day or two to complete the testing, allowing the sync process to run through its cycle.

Yes, there's a movie sets category and it shows up when I use SMB or FTP with Kodi (local information scraped). I use the Estuary skin.

Also, everything is working fine, but the some of the posters of videos look blurry. They're usually much sharper. For Mezzmo, I set everything to use only local info (disabled text metadata and artwork from internet web sites) to speed up the scanning. (All local metadata is complete and follow what Kodi wants in terms of file names and locations.)

Finally, this is not connected to the addon, but I use a feature called Extras:

https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Extras

which loads the content of an Extras subfolder located in the video subfolder when I right-click on a video entry and select "Extras". These contain featurettes, etc. If there's an empty file named .nomedia. in the folder, then Kodi and Tiny Media Manager won't add the contents of the folder to the library.

Posters could be blurry due to the the poster resolution setting in Mezzmo.  It is under Options--> Streaming-->Poster Image width & height.  The default is 360x360.  You can change this to what you want but it is a global setting for all clients since Mezzmo hosts artwork centrally.  Note that after changing this setting you will need to rescrape your folders since Mezzmo reads your source files and then creates the image files internally  for hosting to your clients (located with your Mezzmo database at Artwork-->Poster folder) and your original ones were created at a lower resolution.    Increasing the poster size will also increase the size of your Mezzmo total database usage since your image posters will be larger.  I'd suggest changing the setting and then rescraping a folder before doing all folders.  You can use Maintenance against a folder and choose to over write everything.

Here's a screenshot of native mode Kodi movie sets syncing from Mezzmo.  I should post the new code (versions 1.1.5.8 and 2.1.5.8) later today.  Once the update loads you won't need to do anything other than wait for the background sync process to run over night and it will sync the movie sets from Mezzmo.  Afterwards it will sync any newly found movie during the hourly sync process.

I've never tested the Extras addon with the Mezzmo Kodi addon.  In theory it should work but I suspect it may rely on Kodi scraping, which could cause a problem if Kodi tries to rescrape your current library while scraping the Extras.  Without knowing exactly how it works, I can't say for sure.  Let me know how it works and if you run into issues.  I'll do what I can.

An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for both Kodi v18 (v1.1.5.8) and
Kodi v19+ (v2.1.5.8) have been posted on GitHub. These versions continue
with the native mode feature enhancements.

v1.1.5.8 Kodi 18

• Added syncing of Mezzmo movie series information to Kodi movie sets
when native mode operation is enabled.

v2.1.5.8 Kodi 19+

• Added syncing of Mezzmo movie series information to Kodi movie sets
when native mode operation is enabled.

If you have version 1.1.4.4 or 2.1.4.4 installed (or higher) and automatic updates
are enabled this update will be automatic over the next 24 hrs. Otherwise please
use the links below for manual installation.

There are separate links for the Kodi 18 and Kodi 19 versions. The Kodi 19 version is based upon the
latest Kodi 18 v1.1.5.8 code.

Kodi 18 link

Kodi 19+ link

Click on the download source as a zip option and then to add it to Kodi by using the install from zip file option.

You can find more information on the native mode operation on the Wiki page. Note that when you first enable
native mode you will need to wait until the addon completes a daily sync cycle to update some of the Kodi data
format in order to properly display metadata. You can also clear the Mezzmo data in the Kodi DB if you would
like to speed up the process. Once a complete sync cycle has occurred everything should operate as expected.

For those interested in Kodi Nexus compatibility the Kodi 19 version has been updated to support the Nexus
database numbering scheme but full testing hasn't occurred. This is planned for the near future.

Feedback and feature requests are always welcome. I would like to understand how many of you use
the addon to play music from Mezzmo ? This could help guide future feature development.

An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for both Kodi v18 (v1.1.5.9) and
Kodi v19+ (v2.1.5.9) have been posted on GitHub. These versions add a feature
which allows manual adding of your Mezzmo server IP address if the addon
autodiscovery feature does not work on your network. This enhancement has
been a long time in the making. See more here.

v1.1.5.9 Kodi 18

• Added the ability to manually add your Mezzmo server IP address when
the autodiscovery does not work properly on your network.

v2.1.5.9 Kodi 19+

Roland,

I was wondering if you'd be willing to do me a big favor ?  I am adding support to be able to manually add uPNP servers to the addon by IP address in cases where the autodiscovery feature doesn't work.  Some networks mess with the discovery broadcast.  I want to add Synology to the feature but don't have one to test with.  Can you look in your logs for a section like this:

2022-02-13 14:37:45.604 T:13668  NOTICE: Mezzmo server search: 9 uPNP servers found.
2022-02-13 14:37:45.628 T:13668  NOTICE: Mezzmo uPNP server url: http://192.168.0.35:32469/DeviceDescription.xml
2022-02-13 14:37:45.859 T:13668  NOTICE: Mezzmo uPNP server url: http://192.168.0.35:2869/upnphost/udhisapi.dll?c
2022-02-13 14:37:46.104 T:13668  NOTICE: Mezzmo uPNP server url: http://192.168.0.106:80/dms/device.xml

and find the line with the IP address for your Synology server ?   I am looking for the entire URL string.

Thanks in advance,

jeff

An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for both Kodi v18 (v1.1.6.1) and
Kodi v19+ (v2.1.6.1) have been posted on GitHub. These versions fix a bug
introduced in v1.1.5.8 / 2.1.5.8 of code which could cause some videos not
to display properly while browsing your library. They also improve the recently
added feature which allows manually adding servers.

v1.1.6.1 Kodi 18

• Fixed bug introduced in v2.1.5.8 that would cause videos not to be
displayed if Kodi was not in sync with Mezzmo and the category type
was not set to movie or TV Show.
• Further improvement of the category type code to simplify the logic,
better handle multiple categories for a video and fix issue that would
cause items not to displayed if the category was blank for a video.
• Added check for improperly formatted or missing duration in Mezzmo
that could cause an exception error and videos not to display
• Improved manual IP server additions to include the ability to use
nonstandard ports and certain non-Mezzmo servers.

v2.1.6.1 Kodi 19+

• Fixed bug introduced in v2.1.5.8 that would cause videos not to be
displayed if Kodi was not in sync with Mezzmo and the category type
was not set to movie or TV Show.

Everyone,

One of the goals with the Mezzmo Kodi addon is to make things as easy and automated as possible to improve the overall Kodi experience.  With that in mind and seeing some comments here in the forums, I am contemplating adding a new feature called Quick Play.  The concept is to add a context menu item which would allow quick access to your favorite videos and have it driven by special Mezzmo Keywords (i.e. Kodi tags).  The concept is similar to existing addons like Super Favorites and such but a bit automated where the feature would sync all Kodi clients automatically and potentially not require another addon.  It wouldn't be as full featured as Super Favorites and similar types of addons, for those who need all of their capabilities but for those wanting a simple, integrated way to quickly launch their videos, this Quick Play feature may be enough.

I've mocked up a proposal on what it might the feature might look like.

Please click here to see the Quick Play Proposal.

Feedback is most welcome.

Thanks,

Jeff

An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for both Kodi v18 (v1.1.6.2) and
Kodi v19+ (v2.1.6.2) have been posted on GitHub. These versions contain a couple
of fixes and a few enhancements. In addition the Wiki page continues to be
updated with a lot of new content. Feedback on the Wiki page is welcome.

v1.1.6.2 Kodi 18

• Removed Kodi from manual uPNP server additions due to random port usage.
Kodi uPNP servers will still be discovered via the automatic process.
• Fixed bug where bookmarks were being set / cleared for the underlying
movies when their trailers were being played.
• Improved usability where addon GUI would restart after native mode
search was completed. Native mode search completion now goes back to
native mode menu.
• Added new Diagnostics settings section with options for temporary server
response logging to aid in troubleshooting Mezzmo and uPNP XML metadata
responses. The settings will disable after an optional number of server
responses to avoid overly expanding the Kodi.log file size.

v2.1.6.2 Kodi 19+

• Removed Kodi from manual uPNP server additions due to random port usage.
Kodi uPNP servers will still be discovered via the automatic process.
• Fixed bug where bookmarks were being set / cleared for the underlying
movies when their trailers were being played.

An updated version of the Mezzmo Kodi addon for both Kodi v18 (v1.1.6.3) and
Kodi v19+ (v2.1.6.3) have been posted on GitHub. These versions contain a minor
enhancement and v2.1.6.3 is focused on supporting Kodi 20, Nexus. Initial testing
with the Alpha 2 release has been completed and two modifications were needed.
Additional Nexus testing will occur as the beta and production processes occur.

v1.1.6.3 Kodi 18

• Improved the reliability of the SSDP automatic server discovery process
and standardized the code between Kodi 18 and 19 versions.

v2.1.6.3 Kodi 19+

• Improved the reliability of the SSDP automatic server discovery process
and standardized the code between Kodi 18 and 19 versions.
• Initial fixes for Kodi Nexus 20 Alpha 2 release. Fixed video database
