The 2160p version of that Duck scene could be interesting too. If only I could source it...(or the 1080p for that matter).

BITRATE.........: 106 Mbps
Ehhh, what's the point in testing with that? Not even Blu-ray has that kind of bitrate. Speccing a computer to play that one is a serious waste of cash in my opinion.

Yes, that was sort of what I already said about Killa. I unserstand that, if you play that you play anything. But I think you could end up with very overkill hardware, using that approach. After all, killa is known to have been incorrectly encoded, so basically we're testing against a known incorrect file...
This one is similar. As phunge said, 106Mbps is waaay over the line. Again, playing this would give everyone plenty of confidence to be able to play anything, but is it really worth to be able to?

Why would bitrate-spikes mean badly encoded? Sounds like spikes is exactly what you want if you want to minimize the overall bitrate and quality, ie. VBR encoding. I would agree though that this scene in particular doesn't seem to need spikes though, looks like the amount of information needed should be fairly constant.

Check the codec info (press 'i' while the video is playing). It'll show you dropped frames, a/v sync, etc.

Is there any testsample in blu-ray image format, so that i could check if my computer is capable of playing blu-rays before buying a drive? cloverfield plays fine, killa sample stutters at the end.

Well, i found out that the key to press isn't "i" but "o" and now i see that 5 frames are dropped, but it still looks smooth though.
Now i will probably buy a new Samsung LE-46A558 tomorrow but i've read that it might have a huge "juddder" problem with 24p material, so im kind of torn right now, should i go ahead and buy it and hope for the best, or not? hmm...
