I would like to revive this thread from the dead, hope you don't mind. I would be really really happy to see native support in xbmc, ofc I would gladly donate (once more) just for the sake of supporting the developers and this great community.

The Trac ticket says that the IR Server Suite supports Winlirc and so does XBMC
