[RELEASE] TED Talks (Video) Plugin
#16
I find TED talks very interesting so having this inside XBMC is just amazing. Congratulations for your job!

One thing I don't find is the ability to turn on subtitles that it's possible in the web.
If it's not implemented any chance it will be present in forthcoming releases?

Thanks for the plugin!!

I'm glad you're enjoying it. Please put your feature request in http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-addons/issues/list so I don't loose it. Normally I can just look into it immediately but I won't have time for the next few weeks.

hi- i got TED installed and i can bring up the show list, but i'm wondering if i'm the only one having a problem watching the videos... they come out completely opaque green, with random color squares here and there. audio is fine, can here the speakers.
i'm using the Live xbmc version. what do you think could be causing it? not happening with any other video plugin...

thanks

Works for me. I don't have hardware compatible with xbmc-live, so I can't test it for you, sorry. You might can try turning vdpau or hardware scaling on or off, and then report back.

Ok, it's done. It is listed as "Defect" even though it is an "Enhancement" (didn't know where to change type).

About the timetable Sad well beggars can't be choosers , can they? :o

I am having the same problem with vdpau enabled on ubuntu 9.04 running a recent build with nvidia drivers 190 something. software rendering works fine but its a pain to switch back and forth.

Love TED thanks for the plug-in

it is vdpau specifically that causes it to have the green screen. i switched it to auto-detect and i can watch anything now without switching back and forth. however, i don't know much about vdpau, doesn't that give an optimal picture as opposed to software rendering? how do i know while on autodetect if playing a movie, it's using vdpau and then watching in this case TED, it's using software rendering?

I confirm that this doesn't work with VDPAU enabled - it gives the green pixels hiding the entire screen.

Turining from "VDPAU" to "auto select" doesn't work either - it only works with Software, which is kind of a bummer if I need to manually change to Software every time I want to use the plugin.

It would be great if we could sort this out so all of us can use this great plugin!

Someone needs to fill out a trac ticket. I don't have VDPAU hardware to test, so one of you will need to handle it.

Do the following first, then turn in the results:

Turn on Debug Logging.

Make sure debug logging is enabled. Play a video through the plugin. Note the name of the video. Upload your log to the trac ticket with a descriptive title.

Outside of xbmc, download the same video from ted.com, and play that with xbmc with vdpau and debug logging enabled. Is the bug still present with local media? If so, upload your log and link to the video in your ticket.

Thanks!

Sorry rwparris2,

I said that I will provide the logs and then I was lazy.

I am glad to report that your plugin is perfect. The problem appears even if I download the file manually and try to play it with XBMC vdpau enabled.

I am filling the bug report right now and post back the link to it.

Thanks for TED plugin!
