Solved Kodi only recognizing root directory when adding HTTPS source
#1
Trying to add a video library from a remote HTTP Directory.

I go Library > Videos > Add Videos > Enter path > https://exampleserver.dev/

The top level directory then shows in Kodi as a video source, but browsing/scanning into each folder returns no results.

If I set a folder with video files as the root directory, I can see and play the video files.

I don't think this is an issue with how my index is formatted because it's the case even for the example directories Kodi devs have provided: https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/

You can add the above as a source, but the folders all show as empty in Kodi.

Any help?

I can access all folders and files through a browser, and through Kodi if I set that folder as the root directory.  It's only browsing into subdirectories that's not working.

I've found this index: http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/ that works as I expect; the only difference I can see between it and the one listed above or mine is that it includes thumbnail images in the listing.  Is that necessary?

If it's helpful, here's the html code for the index I'm trying to add, first for the root directory (which works) then for a subdirectory (which doesn't):

Root: https://paste.kodi.tv/ofeyihebeb

Subdirectory: https://paste.kodi.tv/akicufoxek

Does anything standout as the cause? This is a custom set up so I've tried to change the html to reflect what Kodi expects manually.

Edit: Figured it out. Subdirectory hrefs included path, so the name and link didn't match.  Removed path from href and can now browse into folders. Smile
