How to get desktop session back in linux 10.10?

I believe this has been posted before but I can't seem to find anywhere here.

I followed these instructions

Quote:By following these instructions, your system will boot directly into XBMC rather than your desktop from now on. It is advised that you delay this step until XBMC is setup as you'd like it.
From the desktop click System -> Administration -> Login Screen
From the "Security" tab choose "Enable Automatic Login" and select your username.
Click "OK" to exit.
Logout of your system.
From the Login screen choose "Select Session"
Choose "XBMC" and click "Change Session"
You're finished. Next time you login you should be greeted with XBMC.

and now want to go back to the Desktop temporarily. How do I lunch a command line or start the desktop from XBMC? Or even from ssh? Can't seem to find the command to lunch the Desktop environment back.

well...exit xbmc and select another session than xbmc

How do I do that tho? I can't just quit the program, it doesn't let me.

If I do "killall xbmc" it just hangs on a black screen.

And then running "sudo restart gdm" only starts XBMC back up.

exit xbmc should do it. if not, that is a bug.

To force it you could always do
sudo apt-get remove xbmc-standalone

But I havent tested that in version 10 and I dont know what it will do in your specific case.

What do you mean exit xbmc tho? I'm starting to think I'm retarded cause I cannot exit the program. How do I exit?

go to shutdown menu (s on keyboard) and select exit.
BTW, I think some skins do not have exit. Change to confluence.

Thanks so much! I completely forgot the minor detail that I was on the Night Skin. Everything sorted. Appreciate the help.
