atlantis beta1 - high cpu load?
#1
hi all,

i just dragged the new beta1 on my macbook pro. but somehow xbmc seems to be pretty hungry for cpu power.
while idling xbmc uses about 36% of my cpu. is there a way to change this behaviour?

thx&regards,

This is due to an design issue, the GUI is updating at N frames per second even if nothing is changing. Unfortunately there's not much that can be done about this right now. XBMC under all platforms (an all forks of XBMC) have the same issue.

36% is a bit high; while idling, it should be between 8-15% generally. But yes, like davilla mentioned, since XBMC maintains a framerate, there will be a certain percentage of CPU usage even on idle. Optimizing that is a possibility but it's not something we have extensively explored yet.
