[APPLE TV] XBMC for Mac (Atlantis Beta 1) on the Apple TV
I'm thinking about getting an AppleTV to run XBMC. Primary use will be for playing back ripped DVDs and Blu-Rays (in MKV containers) from my media server (wired connection). For now, I'll be outputting the video (via my receiver) to a 720p projector, but I hope to upgrade to a 1080p projector in the next 6 months or so.

Does the AppleTV have the horsepower to play 1080p video?
I saw on the wiki that MKV doesn't seem to work well... is that still true?
If so, what about 1080p files in other containers on the ATV?

Welcome to the forum.

First rule of the forum... learn to search before posting - almost every question that gets asked has already been asked and answered. But to save you the trouble this time around, ATV only has a 1GHz CPU and XBMC does not currently use hardware for accelerating video rendering. So...

1) 1080p is out.
2) MKV can work, but be careful about the profiles.
3) See 1.

Yes. And every other forum on the planet. Very experienced forum user so, I did that before posting. Problem I had was finding info that was specific to ATV or specific to XBMC but I wasn't sure about the combo...
