Failed to install add-on from zip file
#1
Since I had this issue where I needed inputstream adaptive as a dependency for the YouTube add-on and wasn't able to find it in the Kodi repository, I tried to download a zip from the releases in Github - the most recent one marked Matrix . From SSH, I used and when I use the Kodi menu item "install from zip file" and navigate to the file and click the button, I get:

Failed to install add-on from zip file

Installing the Add-on from zip file … failed due to an invalid structure

must be another rpios/raspbian user ...

that there is the source code, that you the user, must compile for your system, it's not even an addon zip

Oh, right. Wink no, not Raspbian. I’m using Kodi Matrix on a Raspberry Pi 3B. One of those search results took me to https://www.deb-multimedia.org/dists/tes...m-adaptive , but I’m not seeing a compiled zip there. How might I compile it or otherwise install this dependency on Kodi Matrix when it’s not showing up in the Kodi add on repository?

'Kodi Matrix' is not an operating system and does not run Directly on a 'Raspberry Pi 3B'

this is the normal issue with pi users, they're not even sure what operating system is on it

so start with that and i will point in a certain direction

OSMC 2021.12-1
INFO : Starting Kodi (19.3). Platform: Linux ARM (Thumb) 32-bit
INFO : Using Release Kodi x32
INFO : Kodi compiled 2021-12-21 by GCC 8.3.0 for Linux ARM (Thumb) 32-bit version 5.10.78 (330318)

I have been confused for a long time about the relationship of OSMC to Kodi.

good, that's a start

you are running a Fork of Kodi packaged and maintained by OSMC - https://osmc.tv

they have a support forum - https://discourse.osmc.tv

and on that support forum this particular topic seems relevant - https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/need-help-wi...tive/89891

Kodi as provided by kodi.tv (team-kodi) does not package or maintain anything except Ubuntu, Windows, Android (for certainty) the download page lists MacOS, tvOS, iOS and Pi but if you note the Pi link takes you to instructions to install from external sources - https://kodi.tv/download
* Ubuntu is currently not being maintained but used to be and probably will be in the future
