XBMC + Secondary Display + MCE Remote

After reading several tutorials, found here at the forum, i've decided to combine some of them into one and make it as simple as possible to start XBMC on a Secondary Display using only the MCE's start button.

Install XBMC & make sure your MCE remote is connected and installed properlly Wink

After installing Ultramon:

1. Create a XBMC shorcut
2. Right Click and select properties

3. Select secondary display and tick primary
4. Click Shortcut tab
5. In Target select everything after ...UltraMonShortcuts.exe"

After installing IR Server Suit:

40 dollars seems a lot to pay just to be able to move a window

Obviously it can be used with other remotes.

I think you misunderstand. The solution proposed here - which I've no doubt works is for people with 2 monitors and want to start XBMC on their secondary monitor. Currently XBMC only starts full screen on the first monitor. But I guess Ultramon changes some registry setting so that it thinks the 2nd monitor is the primary and starts fullscreen.

Ultramon costs 40 dollars if you want to use it for more than 30 days.

Ah sorry, I thought you meant the MCE Remote.

Can I have a TFT screen (VGA --> VGA) as primary screen and a Plasma TV
(DVI --> HDMI) as secondary screen using the method described?

What happens with the primary screen when pressing the green button on the MCE remote?

The primary becomes the secondary and returns to primary when xbmc exits.

wouldn't that screw with your other fullscreen apps? what if you want to run a game at the same time?

Yes, it would.
If you want to run a game or other app in the primary display and xbmc on the secondary, independently from each other (display and keyboard/mouse wise) you should use "xbmcLaunch" instead.

xbmcLaunch is a little app that will launch xbmc windowed, maximixed and without borders (same as fullscreen basicly) on the secondary display. You can find xbmcLaunch in the forum for download.

i followed the tutorial, and worked well but, now i get a funny refresh rate hitch, is a vertical line that comes from the top to the bottom of the screen every 30 seconds or so. It looks like a frame sync problem.
