Hi,
I can see that there is a plugin for AMT on xbmc for Mac, just wondering if this would work on an ATV running xbmc, or is there another way to show trailers on ATV.

Can anyone offer me any advice on where to look for info on apple movie trailer plugin and apple tv or how to install it?

i know its built in at least in the mediastream skin. I have an option for apple trailers. not sure if this is a mediastream skin exclusive feature only or a system wide thing. i am running the latest atv 2.2 with xbmc atlantis beta 2.

Yes, it works fine on Apple TV. If you have Beta 2, you should see the full fledged AMT under "Scripts" or the plugin version under Videos=>Video Plugins.
