I'm in progress of switching from my legacy XBox to Ubuntu. Installation was a breeze, with a major headache: The remote.
As far as I read here, the default XP remote is the way to go, but there are many posts regarding other remotes (I assume not least because the MS remote is hard to find).
With XBMC (hopefully) being on the verge of going mainstream, remote support will be one of the top questions when it comes to deciding whether to use XBMC or not. I've ordered an XP MCE now, so the question doesn't concern me any longer, but what I would have preferred was a listing of supported remotes for the different platforms, e.g.
Remote Type X:
Linux / Live: supported (config link [link])
I'm pretty sure that with the activity in the forum, this listing would grow very fast, being a major help to newbies
Just my 0.02$ - cheers, and keep up the great work!

I got a cheap cyberlink usb one off ebay. Had real issues getting it to work till i found this:
Older version (pre 2.6.24)
Newer version (post 2.6.24)
I have got all the keys working except the mute audio, I'll post my config.h when later tonight.
I am looking to rewrite his program so that the config file read at runtime as opposed to compile time, but after looking at the code it looks like its gonna make the binary jump in size as I will need to have the whole keysymdef.h in memory. Might get it done this weekend.
Here is a pic of the remote.
