Yes, Thank you. I have been able to do this. But only by typing in the direct path as stated above via smb. You can not use the browser and browse to the source if you dont know the exact path as you can with an NTFS Volume.

I have made a .pdf file with photos to setup AIRPORT EXTREME and usb hard drive attached using XBMC w/SMB. Please download file and it will help you. Also to make your video look better you will need to change your advancedsettings.xml file from 48 to 8 to make your video's look as good as they do from the APPLE TV Main Menu. The file is in /Library/Application Support/XBMC/userdata/ . If you do not change this your videos will look blocky. All thats in the file is <advancedsettings><skiploopfilter>48</skiploopfilter></advancedsettings> change the 48 to 8.

Thank you! Yes! your PDF instructions are exact to my set-up. I was able to figure out almost everything except how you mount your SMB Share. I mounted mine by typing in the exact path to my movie share as stated above. I will try it this way.
I recommend this http://public.me.com/jeparkinson for anyone new to XBMC on ATV.

Also, Verry important!! If you are new to using XBMC on ATV. To get to a Context Menu you must press and hold down the Menu button on the ATV remote.

Special thanks to the video settings tip I must try this when I get home. I will let you know how I make out on the Video settings. Thanks again.

Oh! Yes I am trying to find out if there is a way to copy movies to the ATV Hard Drive through XBMC. Is there a way to do that?

mkvinfo is a nice program for detailing the type of mkv video content you have. It's the video content that matters, not the container (mkv).
