[AppleTV1] XBMC unstable since Crystal HD install
#1
Ever since I installed the Crystal HD card (BCM970015) and the latest driver (R174), XBMC has been extremely unstable for me. It will crash when browsing thru my movie titles in library mode and crash during playback of most files. I installed the driver using this guide: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=69321

After the stability problems, I followed that same guide to install the older driver, but I know of no way to check to make sure that is the driver that is being used.

Either way, I am hoping somebody can offer some advice on how to make this more stable. Right now, it is completely unusable.

Thanks!

when you have a chance post a debug log, that will show what is going on when the error occurs.

ffmpeg is crashing when looking at metadata. this suggests you have a 'bad' file some where in your video connection.

This looks interesting:

ERROR: SMBDirectory->GetDirectory: Unable to open directory : 'smb://appletv:@OCELOT/Movies2/True%20Lies%20%281994%29'

You might turn off library autoscan at startup.

Thanks davilla, I will turn off autoscan and see about cleaning up my directory structure.

Much appreciated.

I nuked the configuration directory for XBMC and just loaded a 1080p 8gb movie onto the ATV1 hard drive. Ran like a charm.

Thanks for the help!

glad you got things working, I was having library issues today myself, it wouldn't update, found that the log was saying the db34 (or something like that) was newer than expected. Thus giving the error. The error 10 occurred when I did my first library update after removal, restarted and it worked like a charm.

I was kicking around using mysql to create one universal database a few weeks back, it worked, but was way to buggy. Looking back I have a feeling, but could be wrong that by attemptilng to create a universal database may have been the root of my problem.
