[AppleTV] m4v files pixelated under XBMC
#1
Hi

I have recently setup my Apple TV to run XBMC. I have noticed that my m4v video files (the majority of my collection) seem to have a lot of artifacts during playback. The same files when played on my Mac Mini running XBMC play fine, likewise when using the Apple TV software. It is like watching a highly compressed video off Youtube, only at a much higher resolution. The video seems to stream OK and playback is smooth.

I tried disabling the skiploopfilter setting in advancedsettings.xml as posted in this thread: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=38873 but it made no noticeable difference.

Is there anyway to improve the look of these files or is it a known issue with Beta 2?

My setup
720P Samsung LCD connected via HDMI
M4V files (AC3+AAC, 2000 kbps, H.264) Encoded with Handbrake.
Wireless network (802.11N)
Files are held on a Server 2008 machine and streamed via SMB shares.
Apple TV (Software version 2.2)
XBMC Atlantis Beta 2 running in 720P

Thanks for your time Cool
