Hello
I've just bought an xbox in the hope of converting it to a media centre but as you'd guess, I don't know what to do next.
I've looked at a few tutorials that ask me to get a game called MechAssault but I can't get my hands on that game.
So with this small hurdle to jump over what are my options from here?
Can I still install XBMC or can I find a way of chipping the xbox?
I have absolutely no intention of playing games on this box and I only ever want to use it as a media centre for all my MP4 movies (h264)
Any advice or places to acquire a chip, if that is my only option if I can't find a game, will be gratefully appreciated.
Cheers
Just bought an xBox, but what now?

Why did you buy an Xbox if you didn't know what to do with it? Shouldn't you've read up on everything before buying it?
You will need to either Softmod your Xbox or mod it with a modchip, otherwise you won't be able to use XBMC on it. Google Divineo or something. Oh, and this is XBMC for Windows. Shouldn't you've posted this thread in XBMC for Xbox? HTPC specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E7500, 2GB Kingston HyperX DDR2 6400, 2x1TB + 1.5TB, Logitech Harmony One - All topped with some sweet XBMC on a 46" Samsung C5-series. |

Read up on everything related at xbox-scene, much more info there that will help you. You can also use Splinter Cell, I believe. Feel free to PM me for specific help. Mine is modded with a chip.

it would help to post in the XBOX section of the forum... this is the wrong section.
I'm not an expert but I play one at work. |

You can also use an older version of 007 agent under fire which is what I use to softmod my boxes. you will then need a way of getting the saved games required to run the softmod onto your box (ie a compatible usb memory stick or xbox memory card). look on ebay for the games and other stuff
after that there are loads of guides. Mod chipping is the difficult route if you not a soldering expert. |
