Is this true? I could also flash it using a patchstick to not void the warranty and have to open the box up?

Instead of making another thread, could you also answer this. Does the apple tv remote use bluetooth? You see I want to plug the apple tv to my front projector via hdmi to dvi. Then use the optical out to the optical in of surround sound system. Now all this would be sitting behind me and I wonder if the apple tv remote can communicate with the apple tv if it's behind me?

It does need 'hacking' but its not how it used to be! go here:

And download the latest thingy, plug in a 1 gig stick into your mac then run the programme. Make sure you have an internet connection. It will then create the patchstick. Plug it into the turned off ATV then turn the ATV on, in about a minute you are ready to go.

The remote is a standard infrared one, not bluetooth. There is however the iphone or ipod touch which would do it via the network
