Sorry, we don't _have_ to offer any support to you. We already GAVE you the damn app for free (full refunds available upon request). If you think you're going to guilt us into holding your hand, you have another thing coming. You need to loose this false sense of entitlement you seem to have picked up somewhere, we don't owe you anything.

Given that you are a seasoned "IT Professional", please grab the latest SDL.dll available here:

http://trac.xbmc.org/browser/branches/li...up/SDL.dll

and add that to your XBMC folder (overwriting the current one). Hopefully that'll make up for MS deciding not to distribute older versions of the runtime with Vista.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks
Jonathan

jayelectro Wrote:So I was having this same problem, but it wasn't in Vista. I did a fresh install of XP sp2 on a pc last night, with the intention of making it a media center box. I wanted to try xbmc and kept getting this error. I downloaded the .dll file and installed it in the system32 folder. Same results. Moved the file to the System folder and stopped getting that error. But, now I just get a Microsoft crash report every time I start xbmc.

Anyone else getting this after installing the .dll file ?

Exactly the same symptoms on a fresh install of Vista Ultimate (x64, SP1) Huh

Funny thing, on a test setup (fresh machine, fresh Vista Ultimate x32 SP1) fresh SVN 16614 build install (no upgrade etc) it crashes on first startup....

you are being very harsh on that vrsc guy or whatever his name is
he's only stating valid points
i hate wild goose chases too
im running vista and this program doesnt work at all
i've been pointed in it's direction so trying it
I have followed all advice in this thread (tho you shouldnt have to do any of this) and none of it works.
what else are you meant to do to get this to work?!Sad
this is after many attempts actually downloading an installHuh
