Wow this thread has changed a lot from the start.

A different image for different weather conditions is a fantastic idea. Like miamiwice said, You can just go out ,take a pic of your area and use that image. Magic

I live in Scotland so i better make my rainy picture extra cool.Laugh

Thanks Nuka1195.

Yeah I was gonna say the weather for the UK would be an easy one... just a murky grey backdrop would do! lol!!! Big Grin

There is a free software that renders very nice images of the earth - optionally including things like weather, satelites, city names and lots of other stuff. This may be useful for a backdrop image.

http://xplanet.sourceforge.net/

Another thing that came to my mind was that it would be great if there was a free / open library containing nice themed artwork of any popular building in the world which could then be used to mark hotspots, e.g. the Statue of Liberty represents NY as in my little mockup.

Notice that I created the earth image using xplanet around 1 h ago.

I think there are a lot, like around 40 or so, with all the combinations. I think the only way for this to make sense is if we did five or so different groups of conditions, like snowing, raining, thunderstorm, sunny, partly sunny, etc

there's 48 icons, but some are day and some are night. maybe a new infolabel that returned just the icon number. that way you would have night and day options for pictures.

Thanks Nuka!
Good news is XBMC is only loading condition not day or night so that's 24 images.
Bad news is I have to find 24 quality images Wink

Very nice link!

I'm finding that some conditions aren't possible because there is a / in the title and you cant use that in the folder name.

Another thing that would be nice is if we could put the images in a single folder instead of having 40 seperate folders.

So far I have tested Clear, Cloudy, Drizzle, Fair, Fog, Haze, Heavy Rain, Light Drizzle, Light Rain, Light Snow, Mostly Cloudy, Partly Cloudy, Partly Cloudy and Windy, Sunny

I don't mean to be daft, but no one has actually clarified. Does weather fanart now work anywhere in XBMC, or just for this script?

Edit: doh, nevermind. I thought this was the weather supplamental script thread for some reason. I think 5 all-nighters in one week has worn down my cognitive abilities. I take it its been officially added to xbmc then, and from a re-read, it seems it may have worked beforehand anyway to some extent.

wir3d, that's why i suggested a new infolabel that returned the number part of the conditions infoimage. that way just use 23,24...

as for the single folder, you can do that, but won't work with multiimages.

timdog. it always could work in the skin, at least since jmarshalls change to $INFO. the only change i made was Trim() ing the conditions label.

That would be neat. Smile Of course, this would force me to spend more countless hours scouring the internet for more weather pics, and I already spent enough i think haha. That said, with interest in this growing, I may post a weather pack for download. I don't have tons, but i think i have close to 100 high quality shots.

Also, which of those names is the correct name to use for the folder in that link you provided? I just see series of conditions, such as the first one "Mostly Cloudy | Mostly Cloudy with Haze | Mostly Cloudy and Breezy." Would it just be the first one "Mostly Cloudy" to cover all the rest?
