XBMC wont start
#1
I dunno how to explain this but this is all I get when I try and run XBMC on my desktop.

Image

Computer:
Operating System - Microsoft Windows XP Professional
OS Service Pack - Service Pack 3
DirectX - 4.09.00.0904 (DirectX 9.0c)
Computer Name - DANNYS-DESKTOP
User Name - Danny

Motherboard:
CPU Type - AMD Athlon XP, 1900 MHz (11.5 x 165) 2500+
Motherboard Name - ECS K7VTA3 v6 (5 PCI, 1 AGP, 1 CNR, 2 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN)
Motherboard Chipset - VIA VT8367 Apollo KT333
System Memory - 512 MB (PC3200 DDR SDRAM)
BIOS Type - Award (09/22/03)
Communication Port - Communications Port (COM1)
Communication Port - ECP Printer Port (LPT1)

Is there a fix for this?

Thankyou.
Danny.

Would need a debug log to confirm for sure, but presumably you have the MS gfx drivers installed which don't do opengl. Install the latest gfx driver for your card from the manufacturer's site, unless you have VIA gfx in which case you'll likely need to buy a new nvidia/ati gfx card.

I have no idea what my gfx card is =/ .
I was able to run MediaPortal okay :S .

If that's all the further you're willing to help yourself, I fear you should stick with MediaPortal.

I just thought it was a little funny seeing as MP is based on the XBMC.
I will get a new gfx card sometime after Christmas.
I can't live without XBMC ): .

Run dxdiag and look at the DISPLAY tab to see what graphics card and driver you have. Include a screenshot if you can't make out what that tab is showing.

Uhm MP is only based off XBMC at the most basic level of design. It doesn't share any code other than maybe external libraries and isn't even written in the same language.

afaik MP is using directx whereas XBMC is using OpenGL. Comparing both is absolutely useless.
