rars just make things messier. They're more annoying to manage with all the added files you'll have. It also increases overhead since it has to decompress them on the fly when you play them, not a big issue unless you're taxing your HW but still a pain. In short they just add complications to everything. It's simplier to manage when they aren't in rars and there are less things that can go wrong. Plus not all media programs will playback rars so it limits your playback options which may be an issue for some people.
