[RELEASE] EeasyNews & VCD Quality (Video) Streaming/Download Plugin

Thumbs Up
first plugin so i am going to post screen shots
Image
Basically what this plugin does is it goes to vcdquality.com and checks for any
new dvd rips.
Image
Image
It will then take the rip that you choose and pass it to easynews where you can then choose to download or stream it

Currently i have it using threads to get imdb info.

I plan on adding support to search directly to easynews.

And a few other things.

Let me know what yall think and if anyone has any ideas to improve it.

This one doesn't seem to work for me and I was hoping for some insight. I turned on debugging. Can I just post the relevant log snippet here or is there some other acceptable way of displaying the log snippet?

yes. please post the log snippet. But im guessing the problem is that you did not set the settings for you username and password? You do this by pressing the white button on the plugin and clicking plugin settings. If you do not think this is the cause please post the log.

Hi,

It seems to be a very nice plugin, good job!
It doesn;t work for me, I was wonderring if the webiste is doing Ip filtering (like Hulu) and if the issue is something else?
Thanks in advance.

no there is no filtering. You have to have an easynews account to use it.

Nice, I'll try this out later. Big Grin

Might be worth using the https easynews service rather than http.

If I'm right it should be a bit more secure in terms of passing your username and password in the URL. I seem to recall in https you make the secure connection before passing those but I may be wrong.

UPDATE: Tested it out and working quite nicely. A search using the global search would be nice. Got me thinking about other things that could be tied into easynews, something like rlslog.net would be a good source for movies and TV and most of that will hit easynews.

Thanks, I'll definitely use this one.

Global search will definately be the next feature i add.
I will definately look at rslog for tv rips and music.

I just dont like how they do the movie listing. Its not very uniform.

Ill also switch http to https.

Cool, thanks for your efforts on this one. I've been chucking URLs from easynews to xbmc for ages using the web service but it's nice to have a plugin so I don't have to use the laptop. Big Grin

If rlslog isn't too good then you could try http://www.scnsrc.net/ or even http://scenereleases.info/. There are plenty around but not sure if any use any kind of uniform listing.

Global search would prob be the biggest used feature. Would be great for music too, loads of good stuff on usenet.

Damn I might even use up some of my gig bank. Cool

Any chance of incorporating other usenet hosts?

It's unlikely as this and the older easynews script rely on the web interface that easynews provides. There is no requirement for decoding/unraring as there would be just hitting an nntp server.

As far as I know easynews are the only provider that does something like this.
