Hi,

I want to apologise if this is the wrong forum (all the rest seem to be OS specific).

I am looking for a ready made box (like apple TV, Netgear EVA, or even popcorn hour). Which can play HDTV at 1080p etc... Internal HD would be a bonus.

I understand XBMC can play all other media including HD etc.. its just comes down to the hardware itself. I have a old XBOX running XBMC which is great, but its time for an upgrade.

I am not fussed if it runs Linux/OSX/Windows etc... All I care about is:

1) When I power it on, it goes straight to XBMC
2) There is remote which XBMC fully supports
3) Play HD 1080p content
4) Gigabit Ethernet connection would also be nice.
5) Ideally not too noisey.

Any suggestions?

I dont mind if I have to build it myself but ideally a ready built box just looks better with all the other boxes (sky etc...).

Thanks

Add an MCE remote for a few bux. Load Ubuntu 8.1, compile and install latest ALSA drivers, install latest NVIDIA drivers, tweak for HDMI audio - see other threads as it's not quite 100% there, load XBMC, load\configure Lirc, setup to load XBMC on bootup. That is as close as I can come to what you want and it will take a bit of tweaking to get it perfect. With some minor upgrades it looks like the LiveCD could support all of this as well which would make install WAY easier!

My shot at your requirements anyway...
Openelec Gotham, MCE remote(s), Intel i3 NUC, DVDs fed from unRAID cataloged by DVD Profiler. HD-DVD encoded with Handbrake to x.264. Yamaha receiver(s)
