Those affected by the intel gfx tearing/vsync issues
artik Wrote:I tried lastest Intel drivers (got a DG45FC motherboard) and it seems V-sync / playback issue is solved !

Finally running My 8.10 like a charm, with intel chipset =)

Can you tell us what OS you're running and which driver version solved the issue?

After rebooting my PC, issue reappered... badly ...
But what did i do to get it working ? I launched jester rev 17430 just before, but the application didn't started. Just after, ran 8.10, v-sync issue gone ... pretty strange ...

Need to do more tests this evening, i'm with XP sp3, dirvers intel 14.36.5.5016 (29/12/2008)

@jmarshall
I've tweaked CapnBry's patch here, with what I think is needed minus the detect-Intel or Intelhack-advancedsetting.

are there any new third party versions which do not cause the tearing with the intel graphics?

I'm still using rev 16026.

Hi All,
I created a thread about what I now know is called tearing on the X4500HD & my findings on a registry key for a mirror driver that gets put in place once you change resolution:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?p=297959

Had I found this thread I would have just posted here but unfortunately I didn't find this until after I posted. (Trust me, I spent days searching for a resolution but knowing what terms to search for helps a lot.) Either way hopefully my findings will be useful or at least provide a quick summary for people running into this issue. I think the fact the problem only surfaces IF you change resolution after installing drivers (because of those reg keys being added for the mirror driver) or if vsync is enabled/disabled or if you run with Auto and -fs vs specifying a full screen res & removing -fs that there are so many combinations (including less obvious ones many might not have been aware of. Who really would think that if you changed res or not would matter??) so it was confusing as to which things actually fixed it & which did not.

Im having the same problem with my ASUS P5B board using VGA (Intel G35 Graphics.

Im using this release from jester XBMC pre 9.04 SVN 18257.

Starting xbmc with only -p and i still got problems with vsync.

Can anyone give me tips about what to try?
I´ve got the latest drivers from Intel

Thanks !

Did you try any of the suggestions I posted? (Look up 1 post above yours..) I listed 3 that worked for me under specific conditions.. (I can't take credit for 2 of them that I found searching xbmc forum but I do provide a nice summary of my testing.)

Wow you work at Intel & are coming here for support with your Intel stuff? LOL

Did you try one of the unofficial xbmc builds?

Did you try installing K-Lite codec pack & see if videos play ok with media player classic?

Did you try a different video card?

Did you try 32 bit Windows XP or Vista?

Did you try clean install of XP, then video drivers WITHOUT changing the res? (leave it at the 800x600 default. Don't even open the display properties. Just the act of changing res even if you put it back causes registry changes by the Intel X4500HD video drivers)

Did you try updating BIOS?

Maybe try a different CPU.. Since you work there maybe you can get others to try.. Big Grin

Hopefully those will help narrow it down. Feel free to send me a Core i7 sample. hehe

Hi can I just ask, has this fix been added into the main Babylon release or do I still need a copy of the SVN?? Thanks.

Just wanted to pass along, I am using XP SP3 at 1920x1080p on an Intel Quad w/G35 chipset. I had this particular vsync/tearing issue until 12/9 when 9.11 Beta2 released. I've since downloaded and installed 9.11 RC1 and still having no problems with video playback. Thanks XBMC devs! Anyone else plagued by this one should d/l the latest build and give it a test run!
