I'm having an issue with Imagelib.dll giving errors when creating tbn thumbnails. I'm running Rev16733 and have had the issue on 'all' (I've tried 10) builds except for the official 8.10 build. I want to use one of the newer builds to view Hulu.

The problem is when XBMC loads a folder that contains a tbn, like the Hulu plugin, Revision3 plugin or any movie folder with a tbn it starts to create a copy of that tbn and store it in XBMC\userdata\Thumbnails\Programs, but Imagelib.dll fails to load so the tbn is never created. If I manually add the thumbnail by selecting 'Choose Thumbnail' from the context menu, then the thumbnail is displayed.

Found the solution to my problem. My system was missing a dll called MSVCP71.DLL.

I did a search on Google regarding the error code 126 that was listed on the Imagelib.dll lines of the xbmc.log and found this site (not directly related to Imagelib):

That site had a link to a program called Depenency Walker which I used to check Imagelib.dll and found that MSVCP71.dll was missing. I downloaded a copy of the missing dll to the System32 folder and now tbn files are working.

Yes. You need msvcr71.dll and msvcp71.dll added to your vista installation. I believe the very latest 3rd party builds include these by default now.
