[AppleTV] ISO files taking a while to open over SMB all of a sudden
#1
Previously found that ISO images opened almost instantly compared to video_ts folders, so have mainly used ISO recently.

Running ATV firmware 2.2, and have just upgraded from Launcher 0.8 to 2.2.

Initially couldn't get ISO's to even open (They did in Boxee but took ages) with XBMC giving an error about too many failed objects. Reisntalled XBMC from the Launcher Update option, and have loaded some ISO's but they are taking a minute or more to open, whereas before it took seconds at most.

Any similar experiences?
Maybe an issue with latest Launcher and ATV 2.2?

I have the same issue as you describe with the same software versions. ISO files have taken about 30 seconds to open since Atlantis Beta2 and Launcher 0.8 and figure it is either a network issue (GigE to wireless n) or just how it is.

I wish I had an answer for you but am in a similar boat myself.

I'm wondering if it may be something to do with the complexity of the underlying image.

I created single ISOs for some episodes of a particular series and these open virtually instantly - single title.

More complex titles take longer.

I have some files I used to be able to view quickly, but they constantly give a particular error message.

Exact same issue, I recently picked up an aTV, loading .ISO movies is extremely slow, I compared this with my original xbox, the xbox is nearly instant.

Apple TV v. 2.2
Latest version of Launcher.

Having installed XBMC/Boxee on my other AppleTV I am still having trouble opening certain ISOs which worked fine with the early Atlantis betas as far as i can remember and can be mounted and played on my Mac.

Has the method for parsing DVDs file structure/navigation changed?

This brief snippet from xbmc.log seems to suggest an issue with the navigation structure, but these ISOs used to work on the older beta:

OK, scrub that!

Just tried mounting and playing these ISOs again on the iMac with DVDplayer and VLC and they're hosed.

I could have sworn they played before but perhaps I'm wrong, or they've somehow become corrupted - they're well and truly unplayable now! :o
