Using both scraper and nfo
#1
Hi again,

I started to love XBMC very very much. The best organizer and library for movies that I have been looking for very long time. Thanks very much dev team.

Now comes another question about how to use BOTH nfo file and scraper. I followed this guide http://wiki.xbmc.org/?title=Import_-_Exp...ML_and_URL but with no success. If I do not use nfo file, and name the folder the name of the movie on imdb, then the scraper looks up and find it. Fine. Now I want to change the movie name with the moviename.nfo file:

<movie>
<title>New movie name not same as in IMDB</title>
</movie>
http://www.imdb.com/title/movieid/

and update library, refesh information... No The "New movie name not same as in IMDB" show up, but not anything else. It seems that scraper does not care neither the moviename folder nor the link with movieid anymore, after it got the above name.

What am I doing wrong here?

THanks,

D.

hmmm I am sure someone with more experience will tell you exactly what you need but I will put my 2 cents in.

If you have access to your movies from a windows PC, try Media Companion (do a forum search for it). Its a application that will scrape your collection and create full nfos for all your movies, not just partial ones.

This way you could change all your info in anyway you want and each and every time you rebuild or rescrape your changes will be there... Also this greatly speeds up the scraping process if/when you reinstall XBMC.

This app was a godsend for me since my files weren't named in xbmc fashion... I spent the time up front making everything the way I want and do not have to worry about it again unless of course I want to change everything lol

What XBMC version are you using?

Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.

I appreciate your input dandirk.

Yeah, I read of that Media Companion, and yes, it is extremely useful. Even I do have PC (at work and my wife's comp), and that I can certainly use Wine or something similar on Linux (my media server) or Mac OS (my laptop) to run it, I still want to do something simple first (as well as understand how XBMC works). In case there is no exit to me, then I will try Media Companion.

This is somewhat similar to my situation. That is why I am trying to see how XMBC works, and how well it will with my media collection, so that I do not have to do things again when I reinstall/newly install XBMC or use any platform to access my media collection (mac, linux or pc). Obviously Media Companion is one solution Smile.

For Mac version, it says Atlantis built Dec 18. For Ubuntu version, it was something built Nov 15 (I am not at home to check that, will report back when being back home).

I tried nfo and scraper on Mac version, not yet with Ubuntu.
