heyo guys, is there any way to get the original source images used for the backgrounds of the video/music/pictures/weather and scripts selections on the home screen? i would like to use some of them as desktop wallpapers. are they open-source linked from somewhere?

The original sources are probably long gone. You can ofcourse retrieve the edited versions that we use direct from SVN.
You may try contacting Chokemaniac who was the original creator. Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting. Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules. if you mean the original pm3 yeah long gone I asked chokemaniac for them ages ago for when I was doing pm3.hd and they don't go any bigger than 600x400 so not really background material
