What about adding a video scrubber bar with mouse pointer support? The feature would allow users to easily click and drag (or simply click) the scrubber to the desired frame of the video.
This question was posed in the Windows support forum, and as it wasn't resolved (correct me if I'm wrong), it seems worth considering as a new feature.
I realize XBMC is more geared towards remotes/controllers, and wasn't designed to be a desktop application, but I think this idea is worth exploring. Why the apparent disregard for modern standards in media controls? After becoming accustomed to the playback controls of virtually every desktop media player application or streaming media player, it's frustrating to find the controls absent in a program as powerful and well-thought-out as XBMC.
It's little stuff like this that prevents my household from using XBMC exclusively as a media center interface. This and other (seemingly small) interface issues like the lack of window controls (minimize window, maximize window, close window) give the program a tragically cumbersome feel when it seems like there's potential to make it much more dynamic.
Tough love, XBMC!
