I tested XBMC Live using a 4gig kingston usb stick on a Dell GX280 which you can get for under $100. 720p content plays flawless using integraded video and everything works out of the box. The only thing is you have to use the VGA but I guess you can always get a low profile video card if you need more options.
Just a suggestion for anyone that is looking for a cheap quick setup that works out of the box.
Cheap setup for XBMC Live with 720p

I tested it with H264 movies and they play with no problem. There is no Digital out on the pc.
You can always get a USB sound card to provide digital out. I just have a GX280 sitting and figure I test it out. The good thing about it is that the power management works fine. The box was tested with XBMC Live on USB stick. I believe my GX280 is 3 or 3.2Ghz |
