I'm running SVN r17253 and XBMC crashes to the desktop whenever

I open the OSD and select the AUDIO option:

Or press the 'O' key to get the debug info:

Here is the xbmc log:

Also this gets output to the console:

The first one is a real pain because I can't switch on/off subtitles without access to that menu.

I've narrowed this problem down to the 2.6.28 kernel. After reverting to the 2.6.27 kernel everything works again. I had been testing the latest intel 2.6.0 drivers and Mesa 7.3 which require the latest kernel. They give a huge performance boost, super smooth rolling backgrounds in Aeon/Horizons and triple the frame rate with ProjectM at 1080p resolution. But unfortunately something breaks in the OSD when playing videos.

I'm assuming this is the system in your signature? Please read the first link in mine and post anything you haven't as well as a full thread back trace.

Looks like you need to upgrade libpthread too. We can't do anything about crashing in there anyway.

Did you find a workaroung besides downgrading to 2.6.27?

I also have the same problem but with Hardy LTS 8.04.2 kernel 2.6.24-23. I made a fresh install with this recent LTS build and i get the same message with yesterday's SVN build.

I mapped buttons on my remote to toggle and select subtitles, performing the same function as the 'T' and 'L' keyboard keys. I'm now trying to figure out how to select from multiple audio streams with a hotkey. I can live without the debug codec info.

I just switched to 32bit and it no longer crashes.
