[Mac OS X / ATV] Third-party SVN builds of XBMC for Mac (unofficial and unsupported)
I'm going to test the newer builds on leopard... I rolled snow leopard off, too many problems with coreaudio.

What problems have you seen with CoreAudio? Can't say I've seen any myself.

Let me know how your testing goes with Leopard and the latest svn.

coreaudio seems to be the root of all evil for me. If i disable digital out, and use analogue, i see very few problems in Snow Leopard. There were still some random crashes, but moving back to leopard, ive had zero skin issues, no digital audio issues, and it uses less processor.

was a bit hasty in moving the mini's to snow leopard, should have waited--but the fact that its intel only and a smaller footprint, was a huge plus (plus its quicker).

Well the Launcher showed XBMC r23078 this morning, so I went and downloaded it. Now I get XMBC exited with status: 5 when launching. Where can I download the last stable release for ATV ? Like the actual link to the dmg file please !

Babylon (9.04) is considered the only "stable" build thus far. Everything else you're doing is SVN and bound to have an issue or two. Just keep grabbing or building til you find one that works the best with your setup, and stick to it. No need to update unless there is something fixed or some feature you HAVE to get.

That is EXACTLY what I was looking for... I had to change it up a bit to copy the mounted DMG file into my /Users/frontrow/Applications/XBMC.app folder -

cp -r XBMC.app /Users/frontrow/Applications/XBMC.app

The post here suggests moving it, and it was complaining about being read-only.

But I've got the latest stable build now, so I am stoked.

Thanks !

Wait, you're saying my builds are no longer working on ATV since r22528?

what about last nights r23149?

Please let me know if these work or do not on ATV so I can figure out why and fix it. [if it is a compiling issue that is and not borkage in the svn]

I know on Win32 the video is no longer locking up after a few seconds but I don't have an ATV to test the builds on, only the hackintosh in which I build them on

I'm getting ready to do tonights svn so please let me know asap.

Hi TheQuestor (Craig),
I can confirm that build 23149 does not work on the AppleTV, it exits before even getting into XBMC with error 5 (see this thread
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=58390
for more details).

Cheers,
Winkie

I don't see any crash log posted to a pastebin site except for the first. Kind of hard to see what the problem might be without the crash log. One person's error 5 is not the same for all. In the crashlog posted, I see "_strerror$UNIX2003" ref'ed from libcdio.10.dylib which means someone is not linking to 10.4SDK. The "UNIX200" is a dead givaway. Since we don't build libcdio but pull it from MacPorts, this means that someone is not following README.OSX exactly.

The AppleTV is a 10.4.7 variant. One MUST build MacPorts and XBMC for Mac against 10.4SDK. No exceptions.

I always have built for 10.4 but when the builds where not building I went ahead and installed 10.6 and tried setting up the build enviroment on it but it was not possible because of a known issue with port and boost Sad

I restored my machine back to 10.5 and it should not have changed anything in my build process that should cause my builds to no longer link to the 10.4 sk Sad

How do i go about checking to see what I am doing wrong, and then what do I do to fix it Smile

It's more than a problem with port and boost. MacPorts cannot and will not ever be able to XBMC again unless MacPorts devs revert the changes they made in 1.8.x. It's broke, busted and quite unfortunate. In fact, you can't even install the previous 1.7.1 version as now many portfiles are incompatible. There is a fork of MacPorts 1.7.1 at http://code.google.com/p/xbmc-port-depends/ but it's not finished yet.

If you are running MacPorts 1.8.x on 10.5, you are building against 10.5 SDK no matter what you do to the MacPorts config. Installing 10.6 was a very big mistake, don't you read the forum posts? There's a huge post about how building on 10.6 is very borked. http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=57307
