Your snotty reply is annoying. Shockinly enough, just because XBMC doesn't currently support HW accel doesn't mean that all the GPU cards in the world doesn't exist. XBMC is now being used on personal computers, which are general-purpose systems that run other things aside from the app. Sticking your head in the sand and saying "blah blah don't say anything about gfx cards cuz XBMC don't use em" is pretty damn ignorant, not to mention being rude to the OP who took the effort to inform his peers.
FYI, XBMC not being optimized for native platforms is a deficiency, not something to crow about. At some point, it will have to deal with this deficiency, if only because people aren't going to put up with requiring a 3GHz CPU just to run a small settop box.
The article is informative and helpful, if only to let people know that just because a platform (HW accel or not) can display HD media, doesn't mean that it can do it well, that there are QUALITATIVE issues aside from the basic yes-no tests like dropped frame rates. Get a clue, bud.
To the OP, thanks for the post. Xbitlabs has always good tech pieces, even if they don't write them often enough.
