central xbmc database ?

i have several instances of xbmc thoughout the house all pulling from the same 2 nat drives. is there a way to make the movies database centralised as well?.

the problem is when i add a new movies to the nat drive, if xbmc mis reads it and names it something else in the movies listeings, then i have to go around anf fix it on each instance of xbmc. I am in the process of adding over 1000 movies to the drives.

is there a way and how would i go about doing it?

Hi there, and welcome to the forums.

This has been covered several times, so take a hunt around the forums. The basic idea is to have a master machine that you do everything on, then just have a script that copies the UserData folder across to the other machines. This could be automated to be done every night or whatever if you wish.

The alternative, is to use the upnp server on the master machine, and hook up to that on the clients. Unfortunately, I don't believe we quite have access to _all_ the metadata over upnp as yet.

Cheers,
Jonathan
