Cover Art - Optimum size for folder.jpg?
#1
I have searched the forums for this question, and although there are alot of topics on cover art, I couldn't find the following question:

Is there an optimum size that xbmc would like to see regarding cover art?

My present folder.jpg images are huge, but they look fantastic on my 120" Stewart Screen. My images range in the 1500 x 2100 size.

The only problem, is initial loading is obviously slow.

By dropping to 540 x 960, would I see xbmc load faster?

Before I start resizing 400+ images, I thought I would check if someone can verify this.

Or, is there some weird way xbcm can be setup to load the large images faster?

Thank you.

For AppleTV or Mac? I've been following a thread on the forthcoming new Aeon and DJH is recommending cover art for movies to be 1080 for his new killer movie info view:

As much as my ATV struggles today with cover art and fanart I'd hate to see what happens when/if I throw 1080 stuff at it.

I too would be interested in hearing what others are doing with their cover art, fanart, thumbnails and any other optimizations they do to get their ATV to run faster. Right now my scrolling is very herky jerky.

You can go MUCH smaller for your DVD cover art. I'm running a 42" LCD (which I know is a lot smaller), but my DVD cover art is only 300 x 444 and it looks great on my screen. My fanart (which covers the entire background) is set to 960 x 540 and looks great too... So if I can fill my whole screen with a 960 x 540 image you can go much smaller with your DVD coverart. And, yes, dropping the filesize will absolutely speed up load time.

Do you have something to handle this as a batch process? I seem to remember Irfan View (spelling?) can, and I know that PhotoShop Elements can very easily. Just point it at the folder and go and have a coffee for a couple of minutes.

Yes, Microsoft makes a Resizing tool (under Power Toys). It allows for custom sizing.

I can't find the download link, but here's the site explaining it. I've used it for yearrssss.
